BAC Hits Chicago!
Six instructors and trainers from BAC spent three days in Chicago attending one of the largest fitness conventions in the country – IDEA Fusion. The participants enjoyed boot camp classes, yoga, Pilates, indoor cycling, as well as many specialty classes from the greatest talents in the industry. The conference offered lectures from top personal trainers, exercise physiologists, business leaders, and nutritionists. TEAM BAC returned full of energy and ideas and has already started putting knowledge into action. It’s always moving at BAC!
Highlights of Conference:
● “After reading numerous research articles by Len Kravitz, PhD, it was a pleasure to hear his lectures on exercise science. I absorbed a great deal of information to bring back to our community on the science and psychology of weight loss, specifically for women.” Kelly Bowlin, Assistant Manager, BAC
● “It is always worthwhile to step “out of the business” in order to work “on the business.” I enjoyed lectures from other entrepreneurs who have made fitness their passion and their career. We have a solid team of fun, enthusiastic trainers and instructors at BAC and it was great to have time together to bond over our common interest.” Trina Gray, Owner, BAC
● “As a recent physical therapy grad, my interest in fitness ranges from working with people in need of rehab to those in peak physical condition. The convention exposed me to a range of ways that I can use my degree and love of fitness to help heal and motivate others to live happier, healthier lives.” Tracie Werblow, DTP, Assistant Manager, BAC
● “In the past six months, I have earned my group exercise and TurboKick certifications, have committed a lot of time to studying and teaching Pilates and have reached out to area youth with my kids classes. I am currently pursuing my personal trainer certification. The opportunity to immerse myself into three days of non-stop fitness was exciting and very motivating. Maggie Bolthouse, Fitness Instructor, BAC
● “I have been teaching yoga, Pilates and TurboKick in our community for years. The best way to keep my classes fresh and to keep me inspired to teach is to continue to learn! Continuing education is such an important component of serving our members best.” Jean Prevo, Fitness Instructor, BAC
● “I never knew that I had a passion for group fitness until I got involved at BAC. As a class participant, I have always valued instructors who plan and execute fun and effective classes. I want to pursue becoming a group exercise instructor and know that by attending the Chicago convention, I am one step closer to tackling this wonderful, new challenge.” Amy Glawe, Fitness Assistant, BAC

Youth Performance Camp Success
Bay Athletic Club successfully completed the area’s first-ever Youth Performance Camp. The camp was geared toward 10 to 13-year-old boys looking to increase speed, coordination, and overall athleticism. Fifteen young athletes completed the first camp in a series of three.
"I was very happy with the progress that the boys made in the two weeks of camp. My main goal with an entry level camp is to teach young athletes that form and proper technique is critical to sports performance. By the end of camp, it was obvious that the boys were much more concerned with how they were doing a movement instead of how fast they could do it. I was truly impressed to see that level of concentration in a younger age group." said Bay Athletic Club Head Trainer Casey Stutzman.
"I was so impressed when I asked my son David what was the most important thing he learned in camp and he told me that he now understands that form is very important if he wants to get better,” said Mickey Resnick mother of participant David Resnick.
Youth Performance Camp runs for two weeks and will start again in May. BAC is hosting a camp for girls and a camp for boys ages 10 to 13. Space is very limited.
