Trina’s Quest for Adventure in San Diego
Bay Athletic Club Owner Trina Gray spent a thought-provoking weekend with a dozen fitness entrepreneurs from nationwide sharing business development ideas, sweating through a boot camp, and bonding over their passion for fitness.
The retreat was moderated by Todd Durkin (front row, left of Trina). Todd was named one of America’s top personal trainers by Men’s Journal and was the 2005 ACE Personal Trainer of the Year. Todd is a strength, speed, & conditioning coach, personal trainer, motivational speaker and coach. As a former professional football quarterback, he works with dozens of elite NFL, MLB, and professional athletes— including LaDainian Tomlinson. Durkin hosted the invitation-only gathering at his state-of-the-art training facility in San Diego. Guest speakers included Duane Carlisle, Strength & Conditioning Coach for the San Francisco 49ers, and Jim O’Leary, President of Global Trading, Inc.
“Immersing myself in the business, and engaging with some of the brightest entrepreneurs in the country was rejuvenating” said Trina. “I’m excited to bring renewed energy and fresh ideas back to BAC. I am reminded that our staff rivals the best in the country and our members, the most dedicated and driven.”
Winter Adventure Club
The first Adventure Club of 2008 kicked off Saturday, February 16th, with 13 participants cross-country skiing at Thunder Bay Resort. After a skiing lesson by BAC Instructor Sarah Hoppe, skiers shot down the trail using either traditional style skiing or a trendier style, called skate skiing. Skate skiing is very fast compared to traditional cross country. After a beautiful tour around the groomed, tree lined trails, participants relaxed inside the Resort’s Lodge with complementary hot drinks awaiting their gourmet lunch. Root vegetable wraps, created by BAC Asst. Manager Kelly Bowlin, were a hit with participants who also enjoyed a snack of homemade nutty granola, and a low-fat sweet potato oat bran muffin.
Contact Kelly if you are ready to explore the great outdoors for the next skiing adventure at Thunder Bay Resort on Saturday, March 15th at 10:30 a.m., featuring a new menu with seasonal ingredients. Open to members and nonmembers.
Turning Point III Finale
Turning Point III, a partnership between ARMC and BAC, finished in mid-February with phenomenal results! This small group program focuses on lifestyle and nutrition changes and the participants saw changes in their bodies and their physical fitness. In six short weeks, Turning Pointers collectively lost 57.75 inches, increased wall sit time 104 seconds, hover time 151 seconds, did 51 more pushups, and decreased their mile time by 406 seconds! Great job! One participant described Turning Point as “a perfect blend of moderate exercise, common sense nutritional guidance, and motivational talks to help participants truly embrace a change in lifestyle.” Another noted “You gave us something very useful that we can use in our everyday life.”
If you are interested in changing your life, contact Kelly. The next program is filling up quickly and begins Tuesday, March 4th.
