Are you FIRED UP about Fitness?
I am lucky to be surrounded by people who are fired up about fitness. It's the best way to stay at the top of your game in work, home, and self. Fitness inspries people to be more, do more and give more.
Eight top trainers and fitness entrepreurs from the Todd Durkin MasterMind Group recently spent a weekend in Alpena for a business retreat sponsored by Bay Athletic Club. The crew from Indiana to Californai lived life northern Michigan style. Togther, we shared meals, shared workouts, shared laughter, shared cabins on the lake and shared ideas and visions for improving our businesses and growing ourselves. BAC and the Alpena community were honored to host, and they left quite the impression (including this fun photo).
I know another group of people fired up about fitness right now! The BAC sponsored Thinner Winner contest is in full swing and is all the rage! In total, 47 teams comprised of 240 people in our community have banned together to lose 1,000 pounds and 1,000 inches in six weeks. The winning teams will be awarded $1,000 cash. Some are in it for the money, most are in it to stay motivated, reach a personal goal or join family and friends for some fitness fun.
As for our 1,000 pound weight loss goal? I believe that will bring us 1,000 pounds closer to creating a happier community. But we will blow that number out of the water.
Stay tuned.
Sincerely,
Trina Gray

Training Tips
By Head Trainer Casey Stutzman, CPT
The key ingredient to achieving your fitness goals is dedication and the key ingredient to dedication is MOTIVATION.
Lack of motivation is the biggest roadblock for anyone on the path to better health, but increasing your motivation can be as easy as setting goals. A goal is a powerful tool that helps you stay motivated and on course. A great goal is to find something that requires training over a period of time and has an end event to look forward to. A 5K, half marathon and bike race are some examples, or start preparing for your next softball or hockey season by setting up a challenge with your trainer or friends to completed in a certain time period.
The sky is the limit! At BAC we always offer programs to keep you motivated and successful, like our Boot Camps and Corporate Fit Challenges.

Healthy Living
-suggestions for an inspired life-
By Kelly Bowlin
Welcome to fall BAC friends! My hat is officially on while grilling outdoors, but it doesn't deter me from finishing my favorite fall specialty, Adventure Club's Root Vegetable Roll Up. Those of you who had the pleasure of hiking out at Chippewa Hills two years ago may remember these great, healthy wraps. I had so many people ask for the recipe, but I never wrote it down until now. They refrigerate great for a couple of days, so you can make the ingredients on Sunday and grill them on Wednesday for a quick and easy hot meal. I love this recipe and hope you do too!
Ingredients:
--1 small rutabaga, diced
--1 small butternut squash, diced
--3 large carrots, peeled & diced
--1 large sweet potato, peeled & diced
--1 large sweet onion, chopped
--2-3 garlic cloves, minced
--4 tbsp olive oil
--2 tbsp good balsamic vinegar
--4 Bosc pears
--1 bottle of dark red wine
--1 sprinkle of nutmeg
--2 large sweet onions, sliced into rings
--2 tbsp olive oil
--1 tbsp raw sugar
--salt & pepper
--4-6oz crumbled bleu cheese, your choice of cheese
--eight 8 inch tortilla shells
Directions:
Heat oven to 400. Mix all root vegetables, onion, garlic, olive oil and balsamic vinegar in a roaster. Add 1/4 cup of cold water and salt and pepper to taste into pot and roast uncovered for 45 to 60 minutes, until tender. Peal Bosc pears and place standing into a sauce pot with the wine, 1 cup of water and nutmeg. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered until liquid is evaporate. Place sliced onions, olive oil, raw sugar and a pinch of salt in a saute pan. Bring to a simmer, reduce heat to low and cook partially covered until camelized. Combine all room temperature ingredients into a tortilla, wrap up in foil and place on the grill or under your broiler. Heat on both sides for three to five minutes. Enjoy! |
