I made a leap of faith in January 2006 to open Bay Athletic Club — a full-service health club located inside Alpena Regional Medical Center.  This unique medical alliance keeps the club focused on healthy living.  My all-star team of over 30 personal trainers, group exercise instructors, exercise physiologists, massage therapists and physical therapist work to inspire the lives of people in the communities of northern Michigan.

I hold degrees in journalism and French from the University of Wisconsin and have a unique background in legal writing and reporting.  Before moving to Alpena, I served as a special project assistant to the Chief Justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court and later the Public Relations Coordinator for the State Bar of Wisconsin.

My love for fitness began with swimming and dancing at an early age and eventually led to rowing for the Women’s Crew Team at the University of Wisconsin. After college sports ended, I joined a health club to have a healthy outlet from work and to stay active in a new way. I started teaching group exercise classes 10 years ago and have never looked back. Although I always intended for fitness to be a hobby, I realized that there is no better career than your favorite hobby!

I am an AFAA certified group exercise instructor, hold a dozen fitness certifications, and am a former national presenter for Powder Blue Productions, creators of TurboKick and PiYo. I teach classes to hundreds of people each week to promote physical activity, movement to music, and connecting the mind and body. I currently teach TurboKick, Cycling, Sculpt, Balletone, Just Abs, Pilates, Kid Kickboxing, and Boot Camp. What a thrill!

My husband Jeff and I are passionate about work, but fulfilled by our children Jade (4) and Colt (2).  Regular exercise, dates with my husband, playtime with my kids, wine with my girlfriends and laughter at work is what keeps my life in balance.
