Member Success Stories
Since our opening in January 2006, Bay Athletic Club has been honored to assist more than one thousand residents of northern Michigan in designing and achieving their personal fitness and wellness goals. We are so proud of the perseverance and dedication demonstrated by our members that we want to share some transformation stories to inspire others to take the first step. Prepare to be amazed—we certainly are!
Nancy Dunlap
Before Nancy lost weight, she had trouble walking up a flight of stairs. “Now I can run up the stairs with no problem!” Since joining BAC in January 2006, Nancy has lost 65 pounds and dropped from a size 20 to a size 10.
How she did it? She works out four days a week. Nancy uses the cardio machines, strength trains in the Women’s Express Room and on the Life Fitness Circuit and has tried all BAC group exercise classes. “I feel like each instructor in my own personal trainer,” she said. Nancy is motivated by her success and enjoys the variety of classes and times offered. Not only did Nancy begin a healthy lifestyle by becoming active, she changed her eating habits, drinks plenty of water and gets a lot more sleep.

Jeff Carr
Jeff had a membership at BAC for a year and cancelled it before experiencing just what it could do for him. He says this was the biggest mistake and that you just need to live and learn.
In May 2007, Jeff became a participant in WBKB-TV’s Battle of the Bulge. After this 6 week fitness program, Jeff rejoined BAC and has never looked back on making the decision to continue with his new lifestyle. Jeff this experience as a turning point in his life both physically and mentally. Since May 2007, Jeff has lost 50 pounds and 25 inches!
How he did it?
When Jeff concluded Battle of the Bulge, he began doing cardio on the elliptical and strength training on the weight circuit, and taking classes such as TurboKick, Just Abs, and Yoga. Jeff completed a BAC Boot Camp, which helped him diversify his workout routine and challenge him both
physically and mentally. He continues to take
group classes and now works with Head Trainer Casey Stutzman to keep himself constantly challenged.
Jeff looks back on his successes thus far at BAC, and attributes a lot of it to the staff and their encouragement and motivation. Jeff states that his journey has been physically demanding, but the encouragement of the staff at BAC and their support have made him believe in himself.
